Skin Cancer

Case 41
A primary treatment resistant foot ulceration – an interesting path to the right therapy

Status at first presentation

October 2019

A 69-year-old male patient presents to our department for consultation and further work-up upon referral by his dermatologist. He suffers from an ulcerated lesion on the back of his right foot that has been progressing over the last few weeks. His dermatologist deemed it a chronic ulcer and took bacterial swabs. The patient carries a copy of the results that show the presence of pseudomonas aeruginosa, enterobacteriacae and candida parapsilosis. He received a topical treatment with fusidic acid plus betamethasone cream and wound dressing with paraffin and chlorhexidinacetate without amelioration.
